ICE CAMP GREENLAND

Ice Camp Greenland

— a dream come true

In 2015, the native Dane Lars Anker Møller and his wife — who have lived in Greenland since 2001 — ventured on a dog sledding tour in order to find a suitable location for the hut, they had dreamed of building for years. Their journey took them to the area close to the charming settlement Tiniteqilaaq — commonly known as Tinit. Approximately 10 km south of Tinit, they found themselves on a mountain side looking down into a marvellous valley. They continued their voyage through the valley and ended at the fjord — and here they knew instantly that they had found their perfect spot.

The following summer, they started designing and constructing their dream — and just one winter later, they could invite visitors and tourists to this uniquely placed venue.

During the same time, Lars worked together with the native German Sven Gust on different diving tour projects. One day, the conversation took a turn towards Lars’ hut and the prolongation of this dream — to create an entire camp. Sven was inspired and seized the opportunity to become a partner in the camp project. Furthermore, he took over the practical responsibilities of the construction site and called in friends as well as other contacts in order to get the camp up and running. In the following three years, the team managed to make the dream come true.

Today, the camp consists of five simple cabins that each sleeps two people. Every single cabin is situated in a way that ensures views of the magnificent icebergs and the striking fjord. Additionally, each cabin is equipped with toilet facilities, power outlets, and of course, two comfortable beds.

The huts have been decorated to conform into the Arctic nature — each in a different individual theme. Furthermore, the cabins have been painted in the traditional style of Greenlandic settlements making them look like a small village in themselves. Moreover, the camp includes a great main house with a dining area and shower facilities.

Whether you choose to visit the Ice Camp Greenland during the summer or the winter season, you will not be disappointed, and you are in for a truly amazing and unforgettable experience.
